Every once in a while we share a brief funny/weird/cool/unfortunate story from my many travels around the world. Rather than the conventional guide to the destination or experience, these are the travel short stories that we collected to share what you what can experiece when you go explore the great wide world.
Pamukkale – It means cotton castle in Turkish which is a perfect name for it.
Actually I barely knew anything about Turkey. The only place I used to know was Istanbul from the movie <Taken 2>, that is the reason why I traveled to here and without any other plans, but I heard more amazing places from other travelers or locals.
Istanbul – Pamukkale (the way to travel) 560KM
Bus – I took the night bus from Istanbul to Denizli (FYI, the bus to Pamukkale runs every hour) and I change the bus from there to Pamukkale. It is really easy to find the bus ticket from bus terminal, there is a lot of bus company the you can choose and you can received the ticket from the internet if you are worried.
Airplane – I wouldn’t say this is the best way, because the flight is going to Denizli as well, so you need to take the bus from there as well.
Pamukkale Travertines/Natural Park
Voila! Il y a beaucoup de gens. Mais c’est fantastique et J’etais heurex d’etre ici!
There was not much to do in here but the travertine and the park was really pretty, the water was clear while I was there, I would suggest to go in the early morning, because it is getting crowed after 12pm.
Hierapolis ancient theater
It means “Holy City” and this place is on top of the hills which are pretty close to travertine. The only thing I remember about their history it was a healing center and the name was to honored king’s wife, Hiera. The architecture is amazing.
Accommodations
If you are backpacker like me, I will recommend Anatolia Hotel, they have dorm which cost 10 dollars per day and it runs by a local friendly family. It is 15 mins walk to travertine which is a perfect location. 15 – 20 mins walk from bus stop. I had a great experience here even thought I only stays 3 days.
FYI
You can get the museum ticket from here for other places I remember correctly, you can do that if you have plans to go underground city in Goreme. I didn’t take all the photos about the food I had. But I tried Lahmacun and it taste like pizza with minced meat on top. It was delicious.
